Do You Need a Personal Trainer?
Just one week into 2009 and people are already falling off the wagon they climbed on during their New Year’s resolutions. You know, the one where everyone vies to start eating healthy, going to the gym 3 times a week, and losing weight. The Twitter messages are rolling in, the gym is starting to clear out, and everyone is realizing they don’t have as much self control as they thought.
As a former owner of a fitness center I can tell you we loved January. The rush of seeing new members was exhilarating, the thought of helping everyone reach their goals. And then February hit and we counted our losses, we called the new members that only came in once or twice never to be seen again. While it seemed like a sales pitch to potential new members, those that hired one of our personal trainers, continued coming to the gym, continued working towards their goals, and eventually celebrated with our staff on their new bodies. So, do YOU need a personal trainer?
You Need Support – Often times, as much as our families love us and want us to be healthy, they don’t want to see us change for the better because then they will be forced to change as well. When you have a personal trainer, you have someone that only knows one thing about you, that you want to change your lifestyle. Personal trainers can help motivate you, call to remind you about workouts, and give you someone that you have to answer to for missed workouts.
You Have No Idea What Exercises To Do – With thousands of exercises that can be performed, hundreds of goals you may have, and scary looking equipment, a personal trainer can be a life saver. A customized workout plan created for your body type, fitness level, medical issues, and goals can save you hundreds of hours of trying exercises that don’t work or that can actually injure you when you perform them in an unsafe manner.
You Are Stuck – You’ve been trying to lose weight, tone up, change your eating habits, you’ve been successful so far but for some reason you’ve hit a plateau. A personal trainer can critique your current workout and tweak it to help you move to the next level by changing your routine, meal plan and clarifying your goals.
